REMOTE SUBSIDY GRANT FOR HSC HISTORY STUDY DAYS

As part of our ongoing commitment to supporting remote teachers and students, the HTANSW offers a "Remote Subsidy Grant" to 5 rural schools each year to facilitate their attendence at the HSC History Study Days.
The grant includes FREE lecture admission and up to $1000 in transport/accommodation subsidy.
Applications will be accepted from schools more than 300 km from Sydney.
Applying teachers or their school must be CURRENT MEMBERS of HTANSW.

CRITERIA

A number of criteria were considered in the selection process including:

• The distance of the school from Sydney
• The remoteness of the school
• Maximum of 2 schools from any one area (North Coast, South Coast, North West, South West, West).
• Length of membership with the HTA
• Previous support of the HSC Study Days
• Not a previous recipient of the HTA Remote Subsidy Grant

Hay is 725 kilometres from Sydney and the time taken to travel usually precludes us from accessing central study days for our HSC students. It was really fantastic to travel to Sydney for the 2010 HTA Study Days with a group of our students as a result of one of the HTA Remote Subsidy Grants and I’d like to thank the HTA very much, on behalf of these students.

SAPPHIRE COAST ANGLICAN SCHOOL

I am writing to express my deepest appreciation to the HTA for the 2010 Remote Subsidy Grant. I took 5 students to Sydney and because of the generosity of the HTA we were able to extend our visit and stay for two nights. As well as attending the HTA lectures, Modern History students spent time at the Sydney Jewish Museum and the Ancient History students attended a hands-on session at the Nicholson Museum.
